MS Society UK
Laying the foundations of a new website
As part of their digital transformation, MS Society UK wanted to create a sustainable, user-focused website experience that would evolve over time.
UX research

The challenge
We Are MC² have been working closely with MS Society UK on a major programme of work designed to transform the digital experience they offer.
Having worked in partnership with them on the digital, content and personalisation strategies that are being implemented, they asked us to lead the development of the new user experience for their main website.
We wanted to ensure the work done would be sustainable, enabling them to continue to develop over time and work effectively with other agency partners, so we proposed the development of a component library that could:
- Reduce costs by minimising expenses associated with outsourcing design work to third-party agencies in the future.
- Ensure brand and design consistency across all digital assets and platforms.
- Increase efficiencies by streamlining the design and development process by providing a centralised resource for design elements.
- Take a user-centric design approach by making changes based on research findings to improve the user experience for individuals with MS.
Our approach
Research and analysis
To understand the specific needs and challenges of MS Society UK, we conducted a thorough analysis of their existing website and the components that already existed. Additionally, we reviewed research findings to identify areas that required improvement to better serve their target audience.
Component library development
Based on the research findings, we created a comprehensive component library in Figma. The library included elements such as buttons, forms, typography styles, navigation bars, and more. Working alongside a design agency, each component was meticulously designed to align with MS Society UK’s brand guidelines, prioritise accessibility and the primary audiences of MS Society UK.
Collaboration and feedback
Throughout the project, we collaborated closely with MS Society UK’s internal design and development teams to ensure the components met their requirements. Regular feedback sessions were conducted to address any concerns and make necessary adjustments.
The results
The development of a Figma component library for MS Society UK has been a transformative project. MS Society UK now has the tools and resources necessary to maintain a strong online presence. Some of the key results include:
Sustainability and cost-savings: by eliminating the need to engage third-party agencies for large design tasks in the future.
Design consistency: the component library ensured design consistency across all website assets allowing MS Society UK to easily share work and make updates to designs in the future whilst ensuring designs remain high quality and consistent.
User-centric improvements: accessibility improvements were made, making the website more inclusive for individuals with MS and ensuring a seamless online experience.
